Important Information

What MorningBell is — and isn't

So you know exactly what to expect. Please read this and share it with your family.

The short version

MorningBell is a friendly daily phone call for your loved one — warm conversation, a familiar voice, and a little peace of mind for the family. It is not a medical service, an emergency service, or a monitoring system, and it does not replace a doctor, a caregiver, or human connection. It's a companion call — nothing more, and nothing it pretends to be.

⚠ In an emergency, call 911

MorningBell is not monitored in real time and cannot send help. If your loved one is in danger, injured, or needs urgent medical attention, contact your local emergency services (911 in the US) right away. Do not wait for or rely on a MorningBell call.

What MorningBell does

  • Calls your loved one at the same time each day for a warm, natural conversation.
  • Remembers things from past calls, so it feels personal and familiar.
  • Speaks with them in their preferred language.
  • Sends you a short summary after each call, so you know how they're doing.
  • Can let your chosen emergency contact know if something said during a call sounds concerning.

What MorningBell isn't

  • Not a doctor, nurse, or medical advisor — it gives no medical advice.
  • Not an emergency or 911 service — it cannot dispatch help.
  • Not real-time monitoring — it only knows what's said on the call.
  • Not a crisis or mental-health line.
  • Not a replacement for visits, caregivers, or human relationships.

Not a substitute for medical care

MorningBell does not provide medical, nursing, diagnostic, or treatment advice, and it is not a healthcare provider. Nothing said on a call should be treated as professional medical guidance. For anything health-related — symptoms, medications, treatment decisions — your loved one should speak with a qualified doctor, nurse, or licensed professional. MorningBell complements that care; it never replaces it.

Not an emergency or safety service

MorningBell makes one scheduled call a day. It is not a 24/7 supervision, alert, or response service, it is not monitored by staff in real time, and it cannot summon paramedics, police, or anyone else. If you need monitoring or rapid response, please use a dedicated medical-alert or emergency service alongside MorningBell. In any emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.

Not real-time monitoring

MorningBell is a phone call, not a sensor or a camera. It only knows what your loved one chooses to share during the conversation. It cannot see their surroundings, detect falls, track location, or know anything that happens between calls. Please don't rely on it as a way to "keep watch" over someone.

How we handle concerning moments

If something your loved one says during a call sounds worrying, MorningBell may notify the emergency contact you provided so a real person can check in. This is a courtesy alert, not a guarantee or a safety net: it depends on what is said and understood on the call, it is not instantaneous, and it is no substitute for emergency services. Always treat a genuine emergency as an emergency and call 911.

Mental health and crisis support

MorningBell is a friendly companion, not a counselor or a crisis line. If your loved one is struggling emotionally, please connect them with a healthcare professional or appropriate support service. If anyone is in immediate danger or crisis, contact your local emergency services right away.

It's powered by AI — and AI can make mistakes

MorningBell uses conversational AI to talk and to write the summaries you receive. It's warm and capable, but it can occasionally mishear, misunderstand, or get a detail wrong. The summaries are a friendly recap of the conversation, written in good faith — they are not a clinical record or a verified account, and they shouldn't be relied on as one.

Information you choose to share

Any health or personal notes you provide at sign-up are voluntary, and we use them only to make calls gentler and more thoughtful — never to make medical decisions and never for any other purpose. You can update or remove them at any time. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your information.

For adults

MorningBell is intended for use by adults — the family members who enroll a loved one, and the seniors who receive the calls. It is not directed to children under 18.
